UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL & TOURISM EXHIBITION

The UITT2001 exhibition took place in Kiev's Sports Palace for 4 days in early April (04-07) and again showed the vast potential for business in this region.

As interest grows in the region, UITT2001 saw new destinations such as Indonesia, the Maldives and the Seychelles exhibiting alongside the already established exhibitors from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Hungary, Singapore, South Africa and Turkey amongst others. In all some 500 companies from over 35 countries and regions were represented at this year's edition. All sectors of the travel and tourism industry were present from tour operators to travel IT solutions companies and national tourism boards.

UITT2001 also saw an increase in the participation of domestic participants, which reflects the Ukrainian government's proactive efforts to promote the tourism industry as a priority for the development of the Ukrainian economy. Key players from the industry were present including Crimea and western regions of Ukraine as well as such companies as Hamaliya, Panorama Tour, and Vremena Goda.

In total over 500 companies were represented from over 35 Countries and regions, registered visitors were in excess of 6,000 and non-registered visitors estimated at 20,000.

A great number of the exhibitors that we met were most satisfied with the event, however this "remains a very specialised market that is well served by a number of key International companies who are all rather anxious to protect their 'secret' source of business" - we were informed by a long term exhibitor!
